INTENT
This Special Issue on “UN Policing: Contemporary Perspectives on Global Peace and Security” invites contributions from researchers, practitioners, academics, students, and professionals working in peacekeeping, internal security, law enforcement, conflict studies, diplomacy, and policing. The issue seeks to advance knowledge on the evolving role of UN Police (UNPOL), guided by the vision of a people-centred, agile, modern, rights-based, and norm-driven policing system.
The objective is to build scholarly and professional understanding of UNPOL’s work in conflict and post-conflict contexts, including protection of civilians, institutional reform, serious and organized crime response, gender-responsive policing, community-oriented approaches, and specialized policing capacities. The Special Issue also welcomes studies on operational challenges, technology-enabled policing, Member State contributions such as India’s pioneering all-women formed police units, and the alignment of UN Policing with elements of the 2030 Agenda.
The journal invites original research papers, case analyses, review articles, short notes, and policy evaluations relevant to UN Policing and global peace operations.
