An unmanned aircraft system (UAS), commonly known as a drone is an aircraft without a human pilot aboard. UAVs are the component of an unmanned aircraft system (UAS), which includes a UAV, a ground-based controller, and a system of communications between both. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulates the operation of a UAS. The area of UAS has seen huge popularity and use in the last decade, and it seems promising to one of the most dominant areas of research and development soon. UAS applications are dominantly useful in military domains, so their usage is investigated in public domains. While unmanned thus may become uncontrolled with some security attack, thus a research perspective in the field of security of UAVs and UAS will also be covered in this proposal.
With the evolutions of UAS, its importance can be observed and felt in fields of Monitoring for fire detection, sustainable computing, emergencies, law enforcement, etc. It can be useful for such monitoring or screening application. It can be vital for the deployment of smart cities, security monitoring, communication establishments at rare locations or unapproachable locations, etc. Thus, its aspects of wireless Ad-hoc networks of UAVs and infrastructure-based UAVs can be utilized in this proposal. This volume aims at three sections, parts 1 to 3; examine how various engineering disciplines affect the technologies & trends, policies & securities, and applications of UAS as given below in outline of contents. It will discuss some of the current challenges in UAS by publishing peer-reviewed, archive, and original papers from research groups from over the world locations.
Need of UAS:
Unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) extend human potential and allow us to execute dangerous or difficult tasks safely and efficiently, saving time, saving money, and, most importantly, saving lives. UAS can help police, fire, and other first public workers to save lives in emergencies like natural disasters, locate missing animals, children or to help fight fighters. These may assist the Coast Guards in their rescue missions and can help the Border Patrol for the safety of country boundaries.
