Submission Guidelines
Smart cities are emerging as highly complex technological endeavors that combine technology from many disciplines ranging from engineering to information science. Thus, challenges exist in many directions, including technological, economic, and social, for several application subdomains of smart cities; smart transportation, Internet of Things, and smart industry. Interdisciplinary approaches are necessary to make the paradigm of smart cities a reality. However, most of the studies are conceptual, theoretical, or simulation-based, and only a limited number have demonstrated feasibility through prototyping and proof of concept experiments.
The goal of this book is to present a bundle of works on the proof of concept with a prototype for smart cities and beyond from all the fields of engineering such as architecture / civil engineering, materials, applied physics, applied chemistry, machinery, electrical/electronics, and information and all fields of information science such as Mathematical / Intelligent / Bio / Human / Social informatics. For experts in the fields of engineering and information science, the context of smart cities is a great opportunity for them to prototype their work in the real field rather than the laboratory experiment. Authors are encouraged to submit original contributions related to smart cities. Topics of interest for this special issue are listed below (but are not limited to).
We do welcome submissions from a wide range of research fields related to smart cities, including architecture / civil engineering, materials, applied physics, applied chemistry, machinery, electrical/electronics, and information and all fields of information science such as Mathematical / Intelligent / Bio / Human / Social informatics. Only submissions that describe previously unpublished, original, state-of-the-art research and that are not currently under review by a conference or journal will be considered.
