Models are central tools for mastering complex systems. The topics of developing, using, communicating, and processing models are as diverse as computer science itself. Systems spanning across multiple technical platforms as well as the inclusion of the organizational and technical environment in the design pose additional challenges.
The Modellierung conference, organized by the Querschnittsfachausschuss Modellierung of the Gesellschaft für Informatik since 1998, has established itself as a forum for fundamentals, methods, techniques, tools as well as domains and applications of modeling. Experts in the field exchange information about current research results and trends in practice in vibrant discussions.
Also in 2026, in addition to the traditional formats for submissions, there will also be a Journal/Conference First Track, inviting contributions to previously published articles in international journals or conferences. More information on these submission formats can be found later in this call. In addition, workshops, a doctoral symposium, and an industry-forum are planned. Information on submissions to these formats can be found in separate calls.
Submissions in both German and English are welcome.
The Modellierung conference 2026 will be organized on the campus of the University of Bayreuth. First-class facilities will be available for the conference; in addition to the scientific program, a broad social program will be organized, offering the opportunity to get to know the city of Bayreuth with its rich culture and history.
Submission Guidelines
We look forward to receiving the following types of contributions:
- Main Program (scientific contributions): Full papers (14 pages, plus up to 4 pages of bibliography) or short papers (3 pages, plus up to 2 pages of bibliography).
- Journal/Conference-First (previously published articles in international journals or conferences): Submissions to the scientific program consist of two parts, which should be combined into one PDF.
- Presentation abstract of max. 200 words (German or English). The submission must be related to an own paper in an international conference or journals related to modeling. The abstract must include the exact name of the conference or journal and the year of publication of the paper. Only submissions of peer-reviewed technical papers that have been accepted in full at the corresponding main conference (or journal) and have not yet been presented at the Modeling meeting will be accepted. Unfortunately, the following submissions cannot be accepted: Short papers, invited papers, contributions to PhD symposia, “New Idea” tracks, tool demonstrations, side panels, workshops, or similar.
- PDF full text of paper. This paper must have been published or accepted for publication between 2023 and 2025. The presenter must be a (co-)author.
Contributions can be submitted via the Easychair system: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=modellierung2026. The page limits are strict. The design of the papers is determined by the LNI Guidelines. Authors may revise accepted scientific papers and submit them to appropriate journals for publication. Please submit your paper(s) to the Easychair site (link available soon).Format
Contributions must follow the Author’s Instructions of the LNI Series and be prepared using the provided LaTeX format template for uniform appearance. The LaTeX files must be submitted with the final version of the paper.
