The Network of Interdisciplinary Translation Studies is delighted to continue and share its Best MA Thesis Award intiative for the 2026 NITS Meeting!

The fifth edition of the NITS annual meeting will be hosted by the Centre de recherche en Traduction, interprétation, didactique et traitement automatique des langues (TRADITAL) of the Translation and Interpretation Department at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB).
About NITS
NITS is the Network of Interdisciplinary Translation Studies in the Netherlands and Belgium. The aim of the network is for researchers in Translation Studies and other related disciplines, such as Interpreting Studies, Translation Didactics or Translation Technology, to come together once a year for a one-day conference to present research ideas, ongoing projects or teaching innovations that happen at the intersection of Translation Studies and other disciplines in this geographical area, and from this platform be able to collaborate further on projects, research and teaching.
Best Thesis Award
The NITS Best Master Thesis Award was launched to recognize outstanding research in all research areas of Translation and Interpreting Studies in their broadest sense. To be eligible for submission, candidates should have completed a Master research thesis on a relevant topic in an institution situated in the Netherlands or Belgium. The thesis should have been completed in 2024 or 2025 and should be written in Dutch, English or French. It should have been awarded a minimum mark of 85% (8,5/10 or 17/20) and not have previously won any another award.
Submission Guidelines
The thesis must be submitted in digital format in its original and graded form. It should also include:
- a support letter from the supervisor no longer than 500 words, written in English, explaining why the thesis meets the criteria of academic quality and originality
- a layman summary of the thesis no longer than 500 words, written in English, outlining the problem, the methodology and the novelty of the contribution
- a CV no longer than 2 A4 pages, written in English, supplemented by a list of publications directly related to the thesis
- optional: appendices with any other relevant information

Prize
The winner will be invited to present their research at NITS 2026 and will be awarded a €500 prize.
