Pooling of freight transport, simulation approach

Pooling is considered to be one of the innovative solutions to effectively meet logistics challenges and improve sustainability. It has already shown its performance in the literature review. Indeed, pooling reduces logistical costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
In this study, we propose a generic simulation model for a pooled supply chain. To demonstrate the performance of this type of collaboration, we treat an illustrative example by evaluating the different economic indicators (transport cost, loading and unloading costs, and vehicle fill rate) and the different environmental indicators in the forms of CO2 emissions. Finally, we present a comparison of results with the traditional supply chain.
